Recently we took a mini road trip down to Sarasota to spend a morning at the Ringling Estate. It’s the former home of the circus magnate, and is full of Venetian Gothic architecture, a rose garden, and winding pathways crowded by old banyan trees.
The Ca d'Zan is definitely my favorite part... It's a lavish house, built as a testament to the roaring twenties. It overlooks deep blue water, as far as the eye can see. The entire outside terrace is floored with an array of different colored marble, even the dock is made of marble. I just wanted to roll my eyes back in my head and scream "eleganzaaaaaaaaa" over all the opulence.
After Ringling, we grabbed lunch at an Amish restaurant called Yoders, and it was probably the best fried chicken/okra/mashed potatoes/pie I've ever had. So good that I didn't even mind all the old ladies acting scandalized by my streetwalker boots!
