Hello from my sick bed! I've pretty much been cooped up inside since last week, but I did eventually have to venture out, so I snapped these photos before I raided the Whole Foods tea aisle.
Comfort is non-negotiable when you're ill, and piling all these long layers on made me feel like a babushka, or old Russian granny. I ended up really liking this outfit, and it got me to thinking about how much better I felt in a cozy-yet-fashionable outfit than in a dirty old hoodie and mismatched socks.
Here are my top three ways to bring back some style when you feel like a pile o' crap.
1. Layer up: If you have to venture out into the world for work, school, or soup, layer on the cozy materials and you won't even realize you're not in sweats. I avoid jeans in favor of loose dresses and comfy slacks. Add a chunky knit sweater, beanie, or scarf to top it off.
2. Clean up: Wash your face, take a shower, change your sheets, and you will feel so much better.
3. Stock up: The moment I feel a cold coming on, I make sure I've got all my sick necessities: vitamin C, soup, tea & honey, cough drops, and tissues (blowing your nose with t.p. is THE WORST). I also drink lots of apple cider vinegar to alkalize my body and fight bacteria.
