City Guide: Miami

Here are all my nearest, dearest, and favorite-est places in Miami. I’ll preface this by saying Miami can be quite pricey, and I like to toe the line between frugal and lavish. Some of my recommendations are $10 Cuban food feasts and dive bars, and some are for when you want to drop some serious cash and wear that slinky Dolce and Gabbana black pencil dress that’s been hanging in the back of your closet.
Where to stay

I can’t speak highly enough of the Freehand Miami. It’s a hostel, so you can stay there on the cheap-cheap, but I always opt for one of their private rooms. The whole hostel is bright and airy, with tasteful mid century meets eclectic-twenty-something decor. There’s always a slew of interesting international travelers, and the central courtyard has a bangin’ pool surrounded by twinkling string lights, palm trees, and clusters of mis-matched 70s patio sets. Not to mention, the Freehand is home to one of my favorite bars in Miami, the Broken Shaker.

What to do
Walk around Wynwood
Buy some delicious sourdough bread from Zack the Baker
Hang by the pool at the Freehand
Or, if you’re feeling ritzy, sneak into the pool at the Standard. You can buy a day pass, but where’s the fun in that?
Check out the Turkish spa
Catch a performance at the Adrienne Arscht center
Panther Coffee
Happy hour at Sweet Liberty
Pop into Style Mafia and The Webster

Where to eat
Pub Belly
Lucali (sit at the satellite bar, eat pizza and drink rosé.)
Las Olas Café
Lure at Loews Hotel (sit at the bar)

Where to drink
Blackbird Ordinary
The Broken Shaker (start with the punch!)
Mac’s Club Deuce
Sweet Liberty
Rum Line
Pool bar at Vagabond

Naturally, this isn't an exhaustive list, just what I love to do when in Miami. I would love to hear if you have any favorite places to add!
