Hello from Paris

Hello from my favorite place on earth! At the risk of sounding clichéd, I've harbored an ardent love for Paris since high school. I stubbornly set myself to learning French, and after a few summer and study abroad trips I moved to Paris in 2012.

Fast forward to now, and I'm here with my husband to celebrate our belated one year anniversary. Planning a trip, especially Paris, can be overwhelming because there is just SO MUCH TO DO. Do you see all the monuments and museums? Stroll through the city and lounge in the numerous cafés, drinking rosé and café au lait alternately? There's also the huge bar/club scene, vintage and designer shopping, music and movies, and a million other things.

We landed in the early evening and after checking into our AirBnB in Pigalle, we grabbed an aperitif, checked out the Musée d'Orsay, met up with my friend and grabbed a drink at my favorite tiki bar before calling it an early night.

Our first day was a good mix of everything. We started at the Tuileries/Louvre to see the beautiful architecture and sweeping vistas. From there, we got coffee at Café Kitsune and spent a while sitting in the courtyard and debating over which of the passing pigeons should take the crown of King Pigeon (they were all enormous!).

From there we kept up our monument tour with the Pont Alexandre III (the most beautiful bridge in Paris). It's known for the ornate Beaux-Arts style, adorned with gold cherubs, nymphs, and winged horses. We also checked out Palais de Tokyo (modern art museum with a crazy gift shop that carries all the most obscure and coveted art/fashion magazine from all over the world) and the Trocadero for a perfect view of the Eiffel Tower.

We finished off the sightseeing with hot chocolates and coffee at Les Deux Magots in St. Germain, former haunt of Sartre, Picasso, Hemingway, and Simone de Beauvoir (just finished reading The Woman Destroyed. That was pretty heavy stuff for vacation reading!)

Outfit details: vintage linen cropped trousers and white linen button down, Louise et Cie patent oxfords (and then Nike Cortez sneakers), Everlane Petra bag, Céline Anna sunglasses.
