3 Ways to Wear Trousers

Lately I have been gravitating to trousers over jeans. I love that they can be super casual with sneakers and tee, or dressed up with heels. They're way more comfortable than jeans, and have a more styled look.

The biggest tip for styling trousers is to wear them... (drum roll) just like jeans! They're a diverse piece of clothing, and they add personality to any outfit. Here are three outfit ideas to get you started on the path to trouser town.

1. Summery with straw hat and espadrilles

Color blocking elevates this casual outfit – it just screams VACATION! SUMMER! HOORAY! without being too basic. This is the perfect thing to wear to happy hour with your girlfriends or to glamorously eat all the free cheese samples at Whole Foods.

2. Casual gamine with a button down and sneakers

Sneakers read as fashion forward in a neutral white tone, and the crisp, white shirt adds both polish and androgyny to the look. This would be a great outfit to wear to work, especially in a creative field. I definitely think Jenna Lyons would wear something like this.

3. Posh with heels and a white tee.

This is my go-to look for a slightly dressy occasion. The heels and trouser combo is the ultimate "casual sophisticated" look, and wearing pants in lieu of a LBD is a total power move. I love pairing them with a shrunken white tee. There's something utilitarian about it, and sexy at the same time. Pair with a red lip to basically set the room on fire (fiyaaaa).

Look details: Hanes white tee (from the children's section, way better fit), Nasty Gal suede pumps (similar), vintage watch and bag, Miu Miu sunglasses (similar, love these!).

Which is your favorite, or how do you like to style trousers?
